more 3d euo
Got thinking again about converting moagl/euo entirely to 3d - ie 3d players, mobs and items.
Wasted a lot of time looking for a chm/pdf of Paul Steed’s book Modelling a Character in 3ds Max. Went to Dymocks and bought 3ds Max at a Glance and The Computer Game Design Course (because it covered a lot of ground with a lot of pictures, probably a total waste of money).
Spent a few hours making & animating a gazer. I can do this huge mod - 3ds max is pretty easy with some half decent instruction, but it’s just going to take forever. I have to consider exactly how many models I’m going to need, and whether it will be worth the effort - I suspect not. And then it is going to just look like every other crappy 3d rpg. Maybe save the effort for some other new game.
Still it is a handy skill to have. Wouldn’t be a bad day job, though probably boring after a while.
